Let's "Walk in HK". Together we create a pedestrian-friendly and walkable HK. Let's walk more and further for a healthier lifestyle.
Definition of Walkability
Michael Southworth, Professor Emeritus, City & Regional Planning and Landscape Architecture & Environmental Planning of the University of California at Berkeley, once suggested in his work a definition of walkability that nicely sums up the key points highlighted and analysed in the preceding paragraphs: "Walkability is the extent to which the built environment supports and encourages walking by providing for pedestrian comfort and safety, connecting people with varied destinations within a reasonable time and effort, and offering visual interest in journeys throughout the network."
Survey on Characteristics and Opinions on Walking
This survey will carry out online to collect public views on the needs and visions on walking in Hong Kong. The results of the survey will provide input on creating a comfortable walking environment, that is suitable for majorities. The questionnaire is also providing an opportunity to raise awareness of the walkways surrounding you, and those streets facilitates that you have never noticed.
